While watching my little girl talk to everyone around her at the park the other day (including adults), I realized that I have never taught her about strangers. In fact, she thinks that everyone is a friend because everywhere she goes there are people talking to her.
I felt that even though she is so young, it was time to teach her about STRANGER DANGER. We have been working on it for a few days now and I think she gets it. When I ask her "Who is a stranger?" she replies "Anyone we don't know." Then I ask her "What do we do when a stranger tries to talk to us?" to which she replies "We yell STRANGER DANGER! and run to mommy or daddy."
I decided to look up "Stranger Danger" on the internet to see if I could find some more tips. I found an article on mychildsafety.net that I found to be helpful. One thing that stood out to me is the following:
"The single most important thing to remember when teaching your children about stranger danger is to instill confidence, rather than fear."
As a mother all I can do is drill this into her and hope that when the moment arrives that she will remember what she has been taught. Yeah, either that or I will never let her go anywhere. Ever. I'll just make her stay home with me until she is 30. How does that sound?

Such great advice...it's never too early or late to start teaching these things!! Although keeping her home 'til she's 30 sounds good, too! ♥
I was just thinking of the "Safety Kids" record we used to have and wishing I could remember the songs to teach to Kinley.
